The Policy Advocacy Lab Process goes through 4 stages

  1. Naming the problem
  2. Create a framework
  3. Gathering possible policy actions
  4. Developing an advocacy plan and carrying out advocacy

The first stage is broken down below and the other four stages are outlined in the following document:

Naming the Problem

Activities

  1. Introductory call to explain the stage
  2. Organising a masterclass on gathering concerns (What is the problem and how are you affected by the problem)
  3. Development of a timeline on the history and scale of the problem
  4. Identify stakeholders to work with (google form with two questions: Who can fix the problem? What can they do?)
  5. Literature on government policy actions
  6. Summary of what has been done locally and in the region/ across the continent

What will you have learnt?

Skills to:

  1. name a problem with your community by gathering and clustering concerns
  2. how to develop a timeline on the history of the problem
  3. identification of stakeholders who can address the identified problem
  4. identification and summarisation of existing policy measures and existing advocacy initiatives.
